Pornographic Patriotism

Here in the United States, we’re entering the downhill slide towards the season of PORNOGRAPHIC PATRIOTISM, in which a lot of people get all hot and sweaty athletically declaring their love of country, with absolutely NO conviction, purpose, or commitment under the facade.
In token of this, I have a question for you so-called patriots:
If you were suddenly, irreversibly struck blind and could no longer see the flag, or if you were suddenly, irreversibly struck deaf and could no longer hear the national anthem, would you just as suddenly, just as irreversibly, stop loving your country?
It’s not about the flag or the anthem, stupid.
It’s about the ideals and the principles upon which this country was founded:
Freedom for all.
Opportunity for all.
Equality for all.
Justice for all.
ALL people… not just for the people who look like you, live like you, believe like you, or love like you.
We were conceived as a nation to be greater than the sum of our parts.
ACT LIKE IT.
